Customs Inspector's app for internal use (DSBT)

Brief

The goal of this project was to develop, within a very short time frame and under tight deadlines, an app that would resemble and be identical to the new Diia app, preserving its design, for internal use by State Transport Service inspectors working at customs.

The number of users is approximately up to 300 people, so the app needed to be made convenient for use on tablets, which were purchased by the state specifically for this project.

The client already had a fully developed structure — meaning the app’s structure was clearly outlined. Initially, it had to be created in Lo-Fi quality, and then later in Hi-Fi.

Preparation

Having reviewed the app's structure and all internal documents, the scope of work became clear. The app was designed in such a way that it had to include tables necessary for the customs inspector's use. The tables were not supposed to scroll left or right, only up and down. The text had to be fairly large so that it could be easily read without straining, both indoors and outdoors.

The second part of the preparation phase involved analyzing the existing design system and adapting it to the app. Accordingly, the design system was built from scratch based on the website, which had just been launched.

Our existing platform for entering property data was overly complex and unintuitive. Users faced numerous fields to complete, constantly navigating between flipping cards, opening modals, and reloading pages. This cumbersome process not only extended the time required but also led to frustration and monotony.

As a result, many users reached out to our office for support, significantly increasing the workload for our agents. Instead of freeing up their time as intended, the platform inadvertently created even more work for them.

Design System

This is not the entire design system, and I cannot claim to be the creator of this style. I want to emphasize once again that the app was built based on and according to the standards developed for the Diia app.
